Changes to Lead Standards on Jan. 1, 2025
The biggest change to the standards is the reduction in the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) and Action Level (AL) exposure limits.
Cal/OSHA recently released the following:
- Lead Exposure Prevention Guidance and Resources page, which includes a Lead Need to Know for Employers, and
- Model Written Lead Compliance Program for Construction Work.
This regulation decreases the Permissible Exposure Level (PEL) for lead by 80% and the Action Level by 96%. It also has new requirements for air monitoring, medical surveillance, and worker blood levels.
